Tribal Lands Management Department

Mission:
To successfully meet the needs of the Tribe in the areas of Realty, Land Acquisition, Fee-to-Trust and Property Management by developing and facilitating the Tribal Realty Program through the Tribal Land Management Department.

Purpose:
This department provides an important and essential service to the Tribe by performing five necessary duties: 

  1. Land Acquisition and Disposal (sales):  planning, negotiation, and recommendation on forestland, commercial, industrial, and vacant land needed to continue to broaden the Tribes’ land base and for special uses.  Staff performs due diligence and oversees the escrow process on all transactions.
  2. Federal Realty:  includes the facilitation of fee-to-trust conversions and actions that require processing from the BIA such as leases and easements.
  3. Property Management:   maintains all required documentation/records and assists in coordinating projects relative to Tribal lands.
  4. Commercial Realty:  negotiates, provides recommendations and coordinates leases of tribal property and leases to fulfill organizational needs
  5. General Realty:  Consultation to the Tribal Council and other departments such as Legal, Public Works, and Policy and Planning.  The department serves as Staff’s point of contact for all Federal/State/County Realty Offices.
